Charges against a driver who slammed into an Amish buggy on a county highway last week will be upgraded after the death of a woman who was riding in the buggy.
35-year-old Skyler M. Opelt of Medford is expected to face seven counts of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance causing injury, homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, and reckless injury.
Nine of the 10 occupants of the buggy suffered injuries.
The mother died Friday.
Opelt is scheduled to appear in Taylor County Court on December 7th for a hearing.
