For a majority of people, today the day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday, a day where stores begin their holiday sale prices.
But for plumbers, today is known as Brown Friday.
Traditionally, today is the busiest day of the year for plumbers, as the large meals created the day before can lead to the overload of sinks and disposal units, and bathrooms get used more following the feast.
While it may be tempting to put all of your food waste through the disposal unit, they are only intended to take smaller items, and in smaller amounts.
To avoid overworking your unit, it is suggested that you only put down a few times a ta time, and make sure you run your tap while doing so.
Items that should not be put down the sink, or in any pipes, include turkey drippings, cooking oils, potato peels, poultry skins, bones, rice, pasta, and wet wipes.
