
Marquette has started the coach Shaka Smart era with four straight victories.
The Golden Eagles beat Ole Miss Thursday night 78-72 in the first round of the 2021 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic in South Carolina.
Darryl Morsell put up 22 points and forward Justin Lewis scored a career-high 21.
Lewis also connected on five 3-pointers.
Marquette had trailed by as much as a dozen points in the first half, then came roaring back.
The winners held off the Rebels by hitting some clutch free throws in the closing minutes.
The Golden Eagles meet West Virginia tonight (November 19th) at 6:00 p-m in the tournament semifinals.
