The jury begins deliberations in the murder trial for Kyle Rittenhouse today (November 16th) in Kenosha.
Closing arguments were given Monday.
Kenosha County Judge Bruce Schroeder dismissed one of the charges against Rittenhouse – a misdemeanor count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18.
Defense attorneys told the court Wisconsin statutes have an exception that cleared the Illinois teenager of that charge.
The question before the jury is whether Rittenhouse acted in self-defense when he killed two men and wounded a third during rioting last year.
Prosecutors say he had a role in creating the dangerous situation and had plenty of opportunities to either leave or use non-lethal means of defending himself.
