An Oconto County man who accidentally shot his sister to death last year has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Christopher Halase had entered a no-contest plea to a charge of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon.
Halase must pay more than $27,000 in restitution and will be on extended supervision for five years when he gets out. He also has to abstain from any drinking.
Investigators say Halase returned home from a bar and went outside to shoot his guns. Ashley Halase was fatally wounded when he returned to the house in the town of Doty and the gun went off.
