The man arrested for a shooting at the Fox River Mall earlier this year has been convicted.
18-year-old Dezman Ellis was found guilty due to a no-contest plea on charges of 2nd Degree Intentional Homicide and 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
With his plea deal, the amount of time Ellis could spend in prison was cut in half. His attorney claims that he went from a potential 40 to life sentence down to a max of 20 years.
Ellis had gotten into an argument with Jovanni Frausto at the mall on January 31st, and in his anger pulled a gun and shot Frausto.
He later died from his injuries, while a bystander was also struck by a stray round.
Ellis fled the area and was arrested in Iowa.
He will be back in court on February 1st for his sentencing.
