A Manitowoc man was arrested on domestic abuse charges over the weekend.
Officers were sent to a residence in the 1300 block of South 19th Street at around 1:30 AM on Sunday after dispatch received a call where a female was saying “stop hitting me.”
Officers made contact with a 28-year-old man, who was visibly intoxicated, who explained that he and a woman he lives with were arguing after she accidentally started a fire with a cigar in the living room.
Officers noted that there was no evidence of a fire, and the woman said that the man had called her derogatory names and hit her with a broom.
He also reportedly stabbed the victim with a screwdriver and sprayed her with dishwasher detergent.
The man was arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Battery, each with Domestic Violence Enhancers.
