A man convicted in a Green Bay murder case was back in court this week.
Jeffery Wickman had pleaded no contest to charges linked to the 2013 killing of Daniel Kuehl but claimed he didn’t understand the elements of the various charges.
Wickman was granted a chance to challenge his plea and sentence but failed to file the appropriate motions within the time allowed.
Now, four years later, he is trying again.
He was in court on Tuesday, where his plea appeal was denied, however, he will be re-sentenced.
The court agreed that nine years of extended supervision was too long for his charge of being a repeat offender.
A date for Wickman’s new sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
According to police reports, Wickman broke into the victim’s home in May of 2013 looking to steal weapons that he intended on trading for cash or drugs.
A confrontation occurred, and Kuehl was strangled.
