The DNR is conducting a second round of invasive carp removal in the Mississippi River in southwestern Wisconsin today.
The carp will be removed from the area known as Pool 8 by using the so-called Modified Unified Method which combines netting and herding techniques to drive invasive carp to a small containment area for removal.
In April the technique resulted in the capture of 34 silver carp.
The goal is to remove existing carp in the pool, curb the potential for invasive carp reproduction and prevent their establishment in Minnesota and Wisconsin waters.
