September proved to be another good month for cargo shipments into and out of the Port of Green Bay.
Nearly 244,000 tons of cargo moved through the Port last month bringing the year-to-date total to 1,348,126 tons.
That puts 2021 shipping totals about 4% above the year-to-date totals from 2020.
While limestone imports were down from the outstanding tonnage report of August, cement, domestic petroleum products and coal all posted their highest monthly totals for the year in September.
Domestic limestone once again led the way last month with more than 77,000 tons imported. Cement imports reach nearly 61,000 tons, domestic petroleum products hit 37,700 tons and coal reached slightly more than 33,000 tons.
A total of 26 ships called on the Port of Green Bay in September, bringing the 2021 total to 123, including nine from Canada and two other foreign ships.
That compares to a total of 115 ships for the same time period last year.
