It had looked like the Brewers hitters had put their first-half problems behind them – but they failed to show up in the post-season.
Milwaukee hit just .192 as a team while losing the National League Division Series to the Atlanta Braves.
They scored just six runs in four games.
Weak offensive performance has cost hitting coach Andy Haines his job.
The team dismissed him Wednesday.
A major factor in the decision was the dramatic drop-off in production from outfielder Christian Yelich.
Haines has worked with Yelich since he was a Miami teenager, but he never put it together after dealing with a back injury early in the 2021 season.
Yelich ended with a .248 batting average, just nine home runs, and 51 runs batted in.
He struck out in more than 28 percent of his at-bats.
