A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he reportedly took a woman’s vehicle and claimed it was his.
Officers were sent to a home in the 1900 block of Rankin Street just after 6:00 PM yesterday to investigate.
They spoke with the homeowner, who explained that the vehicle belonged to her daughter, which the registration paperwork confirmed.
The man who had taken the keys from his mother while she was sleeping told officers that he made payments on the vehicle, and that he paid for insurance.
The suspect’s mother explained that her daughter gave her permission to use the vehicle, but not her son.
Both the car’s owner and her mother told police they wanted to press charges, which they did.
The 29-year-old man was charged with Operating a Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent.
