An attorney says his client didn’t shoot the Madison police officer wounded last week.
Attorney Stanley Woodard says Katoine Richardson didn’t shoot anybody and the gun he was carrying hadn’t been fired.
The officer hasn’t been identified but is expected to recover.
Officers were taking Richardson into custody when the shot was fired.
Woodard suggests it may have been an accidental shot fired by another officer on the scene.
The criminal complaint against Richardson doesn’t accuse him of using a gun during the incident.
