Sooner or later the Wisconsin Badgers will have to be able to pass the ball – but not Saturday.
The U-W reverted to “smash-mouth” football in a 24-0 shutout win at Illinois, getting a touchdown and 145 yards rushing from Chez Mellusi and another touchdown and 131 yards rushing from freshman Braelon Allen.
John Chenal ran in the third score for Wisconsin while the defense was holding the Illini to just 93 total yards.
Wisconsin’s “D” was number-one in the Big Ten and number-three nationwide coming into the game.
The school announced prized recruit Jalen Berger has left the football program.
The Badgers return home next Saturday to host Army.
