A Manitowoc man was arrested on nine different charges yesterday (October 8th) after an intense fight with a woman.
Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 1300 block of South 12th Street at around 10:00 AM, where they made contact with the victim.
She voiced her frustrations regarding the court system, as the suspect is continuously arrested, released on bail, and returns to her home to argue.
She explained that the suspect, a 24-year-old man, was in her apartment as she returned from grocery shopping.
He demanded she drop previously filed domestic abuse charges and threatened to kill her.
He also reportedly held a knife to her throat, strangled her with a power cord, and threw a child seat with a child in it onto the woman’s bed.
The child was not injured, but the victim did have visible injuries.
The woman told police that she feared for her life every time he is released on a signature bond.
Shortly after officers left her home, the suspect returned, and the victim texted 9-1-1.
The suspect attempted to hide, but after several searches of the residence, he was found under the kitchen sink.
The man refused to exit the cupboard, so officers used pepper-sprayed and arrested the suspect.
He has been charged with Battery, Strangulation, Disorderly Conduct and two counts Criminal Damage to Property, each with Domestic Violence Enhancers, as well as Knowingly Violating a Domestic Abuse Order, Intimidating a Witness, Resisting an Officer, 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and six counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
