A 36-year-old man is facing charges after he reportedly damaged a furnace at a Manitowoc laundromat.
An officer with the Manitowoc Police Department responded to a vandalism call at United Laundries, located at 3427 Custer Street, at around 10:00 AM on Tuesday (October 5th).
The owner of the business showed a video to the officer, which showed the suspect entering the laundromat at around 8:30 the previous evening, and began searching all of the machines, apparently for cash.
He then climbed on top of a machine and began fiddling with the furnace, eventually breaking the pilot light off of the unit.
In total, it is estimated that the suspect caused between $300 and $400 in damage.
He also brought his bike inside and placed it on top of a laundry cart.
The bike was still outside of the building, and in the basket was a wallet.
Authorities made contact with the suspect and told him to meet up with them if he wanted his bike back.
They met up, and the man was arrested on charges of Criminal Damage to Property, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and was placed on a probation hold.
