As the fall weather begins to consume the Lakeshore area, so too does the stress surrounding next year’s budget.
In the words of Manitowoc County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer, “October is budget month.”
“We have two meetings in October, and one early in November,” Ziegelbauer explained to Seehafer News. “The first meeting is Tuesday, October 12th, where I will give my presentation to the County Board for my suggested budget for next year.”
Then, on Monday, October 25th, the County Board will have a public hearing on the budget, then in early November, the budget should be passed.
But that is a month away. Right now, Ziegelbauer said he is working out the budget particulars, but he does have some help with that process.
“All of the department directors have to submit their budgets to me,” he said. “Then I look at them…change them a little bit…understand them, and fit it all together.”
As we previously reported, Ziegelbauer plans on holding the line on taxes, having a robust capital improvement program, and maintaining county facilities and equipment, all while having an especially aggressive program on the county trunk highways.
