Based on a recommendation from the Manitowoc County Health Department, Mishicot High School is closed through at least October fourth due to an illness outbreak where sixteen individuals tested positive for COVID-19, and a reported 28.5% of nearly 230 students called in sick last Friday.
In a letter to parents, Superintendent Paul Orlich states “Closing our schools is not a decision that is taken lightly. While these changes are necessary to protect our students and staff from high community spread we understand how hard it is for families to make alternative arraignments on such short notice.”
Orlich adds “I ask that you consider getting yourself and your eligible students vaccinated as well as keeping ill students home from school.”
High school students will be taught virtually during the school closure.
