The former Shopko building in Sheboygan now has a new direction.
The City of Sheboygan Redevelopment Authority recently approved a $375,000 economic development loan which will convert the vacant building into two retail spaces.
Exactly who will be occupying those spaces has not yet been revealed.
The nearly 98,000 square foot facility became vacant in May of 2019 when Shopko declared bankruptcy and closed 116 stores in 14 states, including the locations in Manitowoc and Sheboygan.
The future of the Manitowoc location is still not set in stone, but there have been rumblings of a sale being in the works.
