A mass exodus from the Milwaukee City Attorney’s Office has left it short-handed and asking judges for delays.
22 staff members have left over the last 17 months – in many cases accusing City Attorney Tearman Spencer of creating a “toxic work environment.”
The office says a critical shortage of personnel has made the workload impossible to handle.
Requests for delays have been filed in both state and federal cases where the city is involved.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel quotes several of the former workers as saying the agency is ruled by fear and intimidation.
