National Hunting and Fishing Day is this Saturday (September 25th), and the DNR is encouraging anglers to explore all of the hot fishing spots the state has to offer.
Locally, Lake Michigan is obviously the biggest body of water to fish, and it offers trophy-sized chinook salmon and good catches of coho salmon, steelhead and lake trout.
They also suggest checking out Lake Superior if you are traveling up north, which offers up coho salmon and brown trout.
Other highlighted bodies of water include the White River Fisheries Area in Bayfield and Ashland Counties, Plum Creek in Pierce County, Bird Creek in Wautoma, and the Lower Wisconsin Riverway.
The DNR has accumulated a list of even more hot fishing spots, which you can find on the DNR website.
