With the end of the MLB regular season just over 2 weeks away, the race for the wild cards spots is heating up in both the National League and in the American League.
Starting with the National League, San Francisco and the Dodgers have both secured a spot in the playoffs, but only one game separates the two in the West. The other will get the first wild card spot, while four teams are battling for the second.
The Brewers have all but secured their position as the best team in the NL Central, holding a 12.5 game lead, however, in the East, things aren’t as clear. Atlanta holds a three-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies, who are also 2.5 games out of the second wild-card spot.
San Diego is half a game behind the Cardinals, who currently hold the final wild-card position, and Cincinnati is one game back.
In the American League, it’s a bit more clear-cut.
The Rays, Astros, and White Sox each hold commanding leads in their divisions, and in the wild card race, Toronto and Boston each hold only a half-game lead over the Yankees.
