The Milwaukee Bucks are making history by naming Lisa Byington as the team’s first female play-by-play announcer.
Byington will also become the first woman to handle full-time television play-by-play duties for a major men’s professional sports team.
She will replace longtime Bucks announcer Jim Paschke who has retired after 35 years at the microphone.
Bucks and Fiserv Forum president Peter Feigin made the announcement Wednesday.
Byington did play-by-play for the Women’s World Cup on Fox two years ago and she became the first woman to call games in the N-C-A-A men’s basketball tournament last March.
