The Wisconsin women’s hockey team is a solid choice to win the W-C-H-A league title for a third straight season.
The Badgers received seven first-place votes and 49 points in the preseason coaches poll released Monday.
Ohio State was the pick for second place with one first-place vote and 40 points while Minnesota is projected to finish third.
Daryl Watts was nominated as preseason W-C-H-A Player of the Year. She’s already been a finalist for the 2021 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and was last year’s U-S-C-H-O Player of the Year while being named a first-team All-American.
Badgers Sarah Wozniewicz and Marianne Picard joined Minnesota’s Peyton Hemp in a three-way tie for preseason W-C-H-A Rookie of the Year.
Watts, Sophie Shirley, and Grace Bowlby were named to the preseason All-W-C-H-A team.
