An Appleton Alderperson is speaking out against the Appleton Area School District’s Board of Education.
Alderperson Sheri Hartzheim held what she called a press conference outside prior to the school board meeting yesterday, as she voiced her frustrations with the organization.
She claimed that students in the District are being discriminated against due to their non-compliance with the masking rules and that she wasn’t allowed to speak at the meeting because she wasn’t wearing one.
She said that while you can view the meetings online, “That’s not technically an open meeting when it really comes down to allowing us to be able to speak to our elected officials.”
Hartzheim also said that she was speaking as a citizen of the community, not as an Alderperson as she called for an end to the mask mandates.
She was surrounded by many other maskless citizens showing their support, while others were wearing masks, and showed their opposition.
