The attorney for a Manitowoc man accused of killing his two children says he wants a competency evaluation.
A hearing on the motion filed by Matthew Beyer’s attorney will be held Tuesday.
The judge will decide if Beyer is competent to stand trial and – if he orders mental health treatment, that would likely delay the trial.
Beyer faces two counts of first-degree intentional homicide as prosecutors say he killed 5-year-old William and 3-year-old Danielle Beyer.
The children were found in their bedroom in Kaukauna on February 17th of last year suffering severe injuries to their necks.
