Wisconsin did almost all of its damage on the ground in a 34-7 win over Eastern Michigan Saturday.
Chez Mellusi rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown and the Badgers produced 352 rushing yards while bouncing back from the season-opening defeat against Penn State.
Mellusi wasn’t the only productive running back as Isaac Guerendo scored on an 82-yard touchdown run and last year’s leading rusher got to carry the ball against the Eagles:
Jalen Berger also had 15 carries for 62 yards and a score.
While the offense was dominating the line of scrimmage, the Badger defense was holding the visitors to 13 rushing yards and a total of 92 yards of offense.
The Badgers hold on to their #18 rank in the Associated Press Poll which was released Sunday.
Alabama got 60 of the 63 first-place votes to hold on to number one in this week’s poll.
Georgia got the other three first-place votes and the Bulldogs are number two.
The highest-ranked Big Ten team is number five Iowa.
Losing to Oregon knocked Ohio State down to ninth, one spot ahead of Penn State.
The other Big Ten team still in the Top 25 rankings is Michigan at number 25.
The Badgers will have a bye this weekend, then travel to Chicago to meet Notre Dame September 25th in Soldier Field.
