The emergency services organizations in Green Bay are taking what they learned from the shooting at the Oneida Casino in May and including it in their new active shooter training program.
While police, fire/EMS, and dispatchers did work together rather well in that situation, there is always room for improvement.
A major part of this new training program is what happens after the first wave of response, and the threat is neutralized.
In the Oneida case, police were able to quickly take down the gunner but needed a little more work on things like reuniting victims, managing perimeters, and managing other aspects of the investigation after the first 30 minutes.
All three groups underwent a restructured training program recently and even watched film of their reaction to learn more about how they can properly address any future active shooter situation.
