“There is no push right now to make masks mandatory in any Manitowoc County facility, or private facility for that matter, or to be vaccinated.”
Those are the words from Manitowoc County Board Supervisor Jim Brey, who was commenting on an item brought forth at the County’s Personnel Committee meeting yesterday.
The discussion was regarding a proposed resolution “prohibiting mask and vaccine compulsion in Manitowoc County,” which essentially means that the County would not require masks or vaccines in private, public, or County buildings.
“It was a discussion, but there was a consensus by the Personnel Committee to not go forward with it,” Brey explained to Seehafer News. “The resolution is all but dead.”
Brey said he is aware that the number of COVID-19 cases is again on the rise, but he is hoping we can push through and come out the other side.
He said bluntly, “The bottom line is if people use common sense, and stay the course, hopefully we will get over this sooner than later.”
Masks are still required in the County Courthouse, but that is a state mandate, not one that came from the County.
