They may be out of Afghanistan, but the struggle is not over for the men, women, and children who fled from the Taliban.
Reports are coming out of Fort McCoy, stating that the refugees living there were unable to bring any personal items with them, so they are living without any basic necessities.
Governor Tony Evers is asking Wisconsinites to help out, and donate some items of which they are in desperate need.
New clothing and footwear are among the most needed items, but they also need baby supplies, towels, and basic hygiene items.
Locally, First Lutheran Church and Lutheran Services have teamed up to collect these items and send them to the refugees in need.
There is also a list of other organizations around the state that are collecting items which can be found at dcf.wisconsin.gov/refugee/help.
