When it comes to games, raffles, and giveaways, the sad truth is that luck is almost never on my side. Despite following all the rules, amassing entries, or sitting through boring product demonstrations, I come up empty-handed. In fact, the one time my name got pulled out of a hat to win a prize, I had skipped out on the rest of the demonstration to eat my free sandwich peacefully in my office. And, as my lack of luck would have it, the winner needed to be present. Even recently—much to my dismay—one of my coworkers effortlessly won a small appliance and a $50 gift card in two different raffles! Somehow we’re still on good terms. But, just barely.
If only everyone could walk away a winner! But, wait—they can! Everyone wins when they participate in the “Libraries Build Strong Communities” campaign at Manitowoc Public Library. While only one lucky winner will walk away with our Grand Prize of $500 in gift cards to local businesses, everybody who participates wins when they borrow fantastic, free books, movies, and more from Manitowoc Public Library. Furthermore, our Manitowoc County businesses also win when you shop there and support our local economy!
There are Three Easy Ways to get a chance to win:
- Shop anywhere in Manitowoc County during the month of September 2021 and bring your receipt to the Library to receive a lottery ticket
- Check out materials at Manitowoc Public Library—books, CDs, DVDs, cake pans, ukuleles, Memory Kits, you name it! Anything MPL has that’s available for checkout gets you a lottery ticket
- Register for a new Library Card or renew an expiring card

It really is as simple as that. Just make sure to show your receipt at an MPL Service Desk and we’ll give you a raffle ticket for each receipt. That’s right—each receipt! There’s no limit to how many receipts you can bring in, just as long as they’re for purchases in Manitowoc County during September 2021 or that they’re MPL checkout receipts that show that your materials were borrowed in September 2021.
So, get ready to empty your purse or wallet of that wad of receipts and turn them into chances to win big! Even if you’re like me and don’t usually consider yourself a lucky person, you’ve literally got nothing to lose by participating.
And unlike the unfortunate circumstance that I encountered when I chose to enjoy my sandwich in peace and quiet of my office, the winner of the “Libraries Build Strong Communities” raffle NEED NOT be present!
