The huge storm system that hammered eastern Wisconsin yesterday afternoon resulted in many sporting events being canceled, and the Remember the Fallen event at The Wharf was also affected.
For about an hour and a half, participants had been reading the names of U.S. Servicemen and women who died in Afghanistan, when the wind picked up, and the rain began to fall.
The Wharf, and many other businesses and homes in the area, lost power, resulting in the end of the live stream on Facebook.
Event Organizer Ryan Brahmstadt said that “While this setback is quite depressing, as everything was going very well up to that point, I will not be deterred. We WILL reschedule the full reading of all 2,443 names. These men and women deserve to be honored, uninterrupted by mother nature.”
