The Wisconsin State Patrol says three drivers who got out of their vehicles on Interstate 94 to help at the site of an accident were hit and killed early Thursday.
The problem started when a vehicle pulling a cargo trailer went out of control and crashed into a guard rail at about 4:15 AM.
It was hit by a second vehicle, then a third vehicle stopped.
Troopers say the wreck was in the westbound lanes of I-94 near Johnson Creek.
When the three drivers got out of their vehicles they were hit by a fourth vehicle, suffering fatal injuries.
The interstate was blocked for more than six hours with traffic forced to take an alternate route.
