Construction is scheduled to start on a 52-hundred square foot Comprehensive Cancer Center next spring, offering treatment options to patients in the Tomah area. Work should be complete by summer 2019. Doctors with Gundersen Health System say the cost of cancer treatment is certainly a factor, but it is also not unusual for patients to stop treatment because they can’t make the long, tiring trips to their nearest center. About 100 patients required radiation treatments in the Tomah area last year. The clinic and cancer center will be located next to the new Tomah Memorial Hospital which is currently under construction.
