Former Badgers coach Barry Alvarez has been named one of the 100 best college football coaches of all time.
Alvarez had a combined record of 120 wins, 73 losses, and four ties while coaching Wisconsin from 1990 to 2005, winning three Big Ten Conference titles.
The listing for Alvarez says, “It’s one thing to turn a program around. It’s another to turn it around permanently.”
The author says his fingerprints are still all over the program – “and in the best possible way.”
Alvarez retired as the athletics director for the University of Wisconsin last month, taking a position with the Big Ten Conference.
