With four of its seven members new to the job, Milwaukee’s Fire and Police Commission has decided to end its search for a new police chief.
The job starts all over next month.
The decision to restart comes after former chief Alfonso Morales accepted a $627,000 financial settlement with the city.
He successfully argued he had been denied due process when he was demoted.
Acting Police Chief Jeffery Norman will remain in the position.
He has indicated he would like to have the job on a permanent basis.
Two of the three finalists chosen last summer have accepted other positions and are no longer available.
