After almost a quarter-century in Congress, Democrat Ron Kind of western Wisconsin has decided not to run for re-election.
Kind made the announcement Tuesday afternoon (August 10th).
He is the longest-serving Democrat in the Wisconsin congressional delegation.
His Third Congressional District covers most of southwestern Wisconsin and some central parts of the state.
His planned departure makes it harder for the Democratic Party to maintain its majority in the House in the mid-term elections next year.
