Democratic Governor Tony Evers has vetoed six Republican bills that were written to overhaul Wisconsin election laws.
Evers says the measures would have added “unnecessary and damaging” hurdles for voters wanting to cast ballots.
The bills included one that would have prohibited local election clerks from filling in missing information on absentee ballot envelopes.
Another would have placed restrictions on the use of ballot drop boxes in the state.
Evers claims the bills show “how precious our democracy is and how quickly it can be taken away.”
