While the Red Cross is looking for people to donate blood, they are also urging people to volunteer to help in case of a disaster.
They have been asking people to donate blood regularly for the past year, as many drives had to be canceled due to the COVID pandemic, however, American Red Cross of Wisconsin Regional CEO Mark Thomas says that having a trained volunteer workforce is paramount to working through any disaster.
Wildfires have been prevalent throughout the state due to a low amount of precipitation, and severe tornadoes ripped through the southern part of the state last week.
The Wisconsin Region provided immediate emergency assistance to more than 4,500 people last year, after 833 home fires and other disasters, making it the busiest season in three years.
