August is National Breastfeeding Month, and the HSHS System of Hospitals is celebrating by touting the benefits of breastfeeding your child.
The World Health Organization says that mother’s milk is like the child’s first vaccine as it provides vital antibodies and an immunity boost. It should be noted that breastfeeding is just as beneficial if the milk is pumped out as it is if consumed directly from the mother. As long as the child is drinking its mother’s milk, they will get the benefits. You can learn more about the importance of breastfeeding by going to CDC.gov/breastfeeding.
