Milwaukee police have arrested a 26-year-old man for leaving a gun where some children could get their hands on it.
The gun discharged while they were handling it and a two-year-old boy suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
He has been identified as Cartier J. Smith.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon in the Walker’s Point neighborhood.
At least three minors were shot in Milwaukee over the weekend.
Police haven’t identified the man who was arrested, but they say they plan to recommend criminal charges to the district attorney’s office in the near future.
