A 29-year-old mother from Grafton has entered a not guilty plea to a charge of felony recklessly endangering safety. Amber Schmunk is accused of having her nine-year-old son ride on the roof of the family’s mini-van to hold down a plastic wading tool. It was a short drive to her sister’s house. The strange story became a minor sensation on the internet. Another driver saw the boy on top the mini-van and reported it to Saukville police. They stopped Schmunk after she had already dropped the pool off. She pointed out the boy had been strapped down and the trip only lasted 20 or 30 seconds, but she was still charged. If convicted, she could get a maximum of five years in prison. Schmunk returns to court January 16th.
