Hours of testimony were given Wednesday to a Wisconsin Senate panel about allowing advanced practice nurses to work without the direct supervision of a doctor.
Legislation being considered would let them prescribe medicine. They would open the door to the APRNs seeing more patients, giving them more freedom and authority. Backers say it would be a way of giving patients more healthcare options.
There are worries such an approach could hurt doctors and their medical practices.
