Weeks after Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele wanted to add parking meters to the county’s lakefront, at least one supervisor is pushing back. Abele said the meters could develop more than one-and-a-half-million dollars as the county tries to deal with revenue shortfalls. Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic has unveiled a resolution which would ban those meters on public streets within nine parks, or near the lakefront. Her proposal would allow meters in parking lots with board approval. County leaders need to find 15-million dollars in budget cuts or additional revenue to balance this current spending plan.
