A Manitowoc man was arrested last night (July 13th) after he allegedly repeatedly slammed his ex-girlfriend into a wall multiple times and strangling her.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Quay Street at around 9:30 PM to investigate the situation.
The victim told police the situation began when the suspect, a 25-year-old man, came to the residence with his mother to pick up his cellphone. An argument ensued, and the victim called the police.
The man then reportedly grabbed the victim from behind, and smothered her nose and mouth with one hand, and grabbed her neck with the other. He then slammed her against the wall multiple times, causing injuries to the woman.
The man then fled from the scene, and the suspect’s mother claimed there was no physical altercation.
The man was later located, and denied ever hurting the woman, and claimed she slammed his hand in a gate.
The man was arrested on charges of Battery, and Strangulation or Suffocation.
