Convenience Store Shooting Leaves Co-Owner Dead

Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal shooting at a north side convenience store Sunday morning.  Police think Ala Mahmoud, known as “Polo,” was murdered during an armed robbery.  He was identified by his wife.  Witnesses say the 40-year-old victim was a co-owner of the store who was well-liked in the neighborhood where he had worked for more than 10 years.  He leaves behind a pregnant wife, an 18-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son.  Mahmoud was shot in the head.
