Madison police say a person of interest in a fatal shooting on the city’s east side has been taken into custody in Indiana.
That person was arrested on an unrelated charge.
The 31-year-old woman was shot Sunday morning.
Then, early Monday a 23-year-old man who was a passenger in a vehicle was shot to death on the city’s west side.
The suspect in the second shooting is still at large.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes says his city is seeing an increase in shooting cases.
Investigators have recovered 45 percent more shell casings than they had at this time last year.
