A Manitowoc man has been arrested after allegedly stealing several items from Walmart. Officers were sent to the store at 4115 Calumet Avenue just after Noon on Sunday (June 27th) to investigate the claim.
A worker at Walmart told authorities that the 29-year-old man had taken a record player, a coloring book, a small backpack, and a phone charger and left without paying. The man then reportedly entered a vehicle, being driven by another man, and drove to a home in the 2100 block of South 16th Street. Officers spoke with the driver, who told them that the suspect, whom he knew, had gotten into his vehicle and told him to drive.
He allowed the officers to search his vehicle, where they found the backpack which had the items the worker said were stolen, as well as several Bic lighters, some mood lights, a package of bracelets, and several other small items. The man has been charged with Misdemeanor Retail Theft, and five counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
