There is a new member of the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, and his tail is wagging with delight at his new job.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig went to Facebook to announce the addition of K9 Rocky to his staff.
In the post, Sheriff Hartwig explained that “last week Friday, Deputy Schwede and Rocky completed their intense five weeks of training at Jessiffany Canine Services, LLC in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin. Rocky’s training included narcotics detection, apprehension, tracking, and handler protection. He is certified by the American Police K9 Association.”
The 16-month-old Sable German Shepard was imported from Europe earlier this year.
Generous donations from the community fully funds the K9 program.
Hartwig everyone who has donated to the program over the past several years, saying “Your contributions go to the purchase and care of these great community resources.”
