Children ages 12 to 15 may soon be eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
Manitowoc County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert says, “This increases eligibility to the general population by five percent getting these children vaccinated will be a significant step in getting back to normal. In clinical trials, the Pfizer vaccine proved to be 100 percent effective in preventing illness among this age group.”
Approval is expected soon and shots could be administered later this week. Meanwhile, the Manitowoc County Health Department will be administering COVID-19 vaccines in Manitowoc this weekend.
Lambert goes on, “The Health Department is collaborating with Aurora Healthcare in offering the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine free of charge to those 18 and older Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmers Market downtown”
The market is located in the Quay Street Parking Lot across from the Library. Lambert adds, “We are jointly committed to protecting the health of Manitowoc County and will continue to do what is necessary to reduce barriers and help people get vaccinated.”
